Looking at the Stars Eugene, Oregon Aug 25 2009-- Maybe it's the long summer that never quite goes fast enough into the college football season, maybe it's the expectations of the elusive National football championship that promises to elevate ones spirit and knowing that the football team has inexperienced players with an exponential amount of talent over last year due to some crafty recruitment. A couple of new coaches (Chip Kelly and Jerry Azzinaro) have taken over with personalities that has excited the masses here in Eugene with their coaching styles and maybe I'm just excited about the season getting ready to start. After attending the spring workouts for a second year watching the players, coaches and changes that have taken place, surmise this is going to be a good year for the Ducks if the stars align and the upcoming football stars on the Ducks football team step up and shine. There seems to be a great amount of debate about the "O" line..there shouldn't be, I have personally seen Holmes pick up a player and slam him into the ground..just practice, those are the things that make me warm and fuzzy. Walter Thurmond III didn't play last year against Boise State because of injuries, he is going to be there this year. Jeremiah Masoli, he is a work of art. This year he is more experienced and not tentative as he was during the Boise game last year. LaGarrette Blount will have the field to himself, he does not run around any player and will have more of a role as the #1 RB not sharing play time to the drafted Jeremiah Johnson. He has a big motor in that dump truck. The Ducks have a new flock of WR's and TE's showing their talents, it's a matter of game experience now. Garrett Embry is showing good signs and yes he did play last year..not much but he showed some good promise. Ed Dickson should have a really productive year. Having depth on the team has made a difference with the coaches game planning especially at QB, Nate Costa has totally impressed me with his decision making and talent, I want to see him in action. My pure speculation for this year is 11-1 unless the stars align..it might be 12-0 |
