  Eugene, Ore--

The running back depth chart is going to be tested at the University of Oregon going into the home opener Sept 12th as preparations for Purdue are under way. Purdue, much like Oregon has a new head coach and a young offensive line but won their first game in 2009 against Toledo 52-31 in an impressive manner.

Andre Crenshaw, Kenjon Barner,LaMichael James, Remene Alston, and Craig Loper are the ones given the opportunity to step up and help keep the Oregon football team on track this year after LeGarrette Blount was suspended for his senior year thus effectively ending his playing time at the University of Oregon.

Andre Crenshaw RB #22 is the most experienced player and a senior this year with total offense of 110 plays yielding 551 yards and 30 points. Andre had 1 kick return for 34 yards last year against Purdue. This may be the year to shine and be a play maker for the team.

Kenjon Barner RB #24 is a do it all type of player and has received praise for his special teams work, defensive skills and his "can do" attitude. he has 1 reception for 7 yards and 1 kickoff return for 29 yards so far this season. He is a red shirt freshman and talented.

LaMichael James RB #21 worked on the scout team last year earning accolades and is a red shirt freshman, as coach Kelly explained he is faster than Jeremiah Johnson ever thought of being. So far he has 2 plays for 22 yards and has 1 reception for 3 yards.

Remene Alston Jr RB # 5 Is getting his academics back in order and may not play when Purdue comes to town, if he does get everything in order his contributions would be welcome I'm sure. He has 203 yards of offense and 2 TD's with an average of 4.4 yrds per carry.

Craig Loper RB #37 is 5 ft 11 inches and a Eugene, Oregon player from Willamette High School, He's a freshmen just joining the team in 2009. He did see playing time in the spring game.

Here's hoping to a productive game to put the Ducks on course for a good 2009 football year!

   GO DUCKS!
